Atlanta Branch

atlanta1

The Atlanta Branch of the USGBC-Georgia Chapter was formed in 2001 based on a strong alliance with Southface Energy Institute. In 2008, the Atlanta Chapter merged with the Savannah Chapter to create a statewide organization that could better serve all communities in Georgia.

The Atlanta Branch serves all of North Georgia and Metro Atlanta. The Atlanta Branch serves its members through a strong focus on education, LEED training, local partnerships, networking, communications, and advocacy.

Branch Leadership Group (BLG):

The Atlanta Branch follows the national organization's lead in working primarily through committees that form partnerships and strategic alliances with the other Chapter branches and regional organizations. The Branch Leadership Group includes members who have shown leadership in the local community and sustainable building industry. These committees are typically led by a Chairperson, with a Board Member serving as a liasion for strategic guidance, and are supported by a Co-Chair as well as volunteers.

Educational Programs & Events

The Education & Events Committee is responsible for planning all of the Atlanta Branch events including monthly educational sessions, Credential Maintenance Programs, Lunch & Learns, Networking, Tours, and other events.  Our goal is to further the mission of the USGBC through quality education and networking opportunities.

The E&E Committee is divided into four subcommittees providing unique opportunities to our members:

Branch Educational Events include 9 yearly comprehensive educational events and courses provided to the membership utilizing local and national experts.  These are typically held on the third Thursday of month and provide credentialing maintenance credit to attendees.  Topics are chosen based on the results of a Atlanta branch membership survey which is administered every year. Credentialing maintenance credits are offered.

Green Scene is a social networking event.  Held on the second Tuesday of every other month, these events are centered around free food and a cash bar and provide a way for green building industry professionals to meet.  June is large collaborative with our allied partners and December is our holiday themed Red and Green Scene.

Tour Events are tours of LEED certified or pending projects in metropolitan Atlanta held on the fourth Thursday of the month.  These provide ‘on the ground’ educational opportunities for membership through exposure to a wide variety of LEED projects being construction under various LEED rating systems.  Credentialing maintenance credits are offered.

Industry Educational Events: are organized and provided by our sponsors.  These events generate revenue for the Georgia Chapter, increase the visibility of the USGBC within private industry and provide platform for industry marketing to the membership at large.  Credentialing maintenance credits are offered.
