The USGBC-Georgia, Atlanta Branch’s Emerging Professionals is a group whose mission is to provide a valuable connection between professionals just beginning their careers and those who have already established themselves and in various industries.
Our group is working toward creating a forum for people who are at all stages in their career to share and explore their passions, their opinions on issues related to sustainability in the built environment, and to feel a sense of comradery with fellow peers from all walks of life, here in the Metro Atlanta area.
We currently have several important initiatives in the works:
- University Connection – We want to create and strengthen a bridge between the various student bodies of a number of universities in Atlanta and the professional world. We want to show these soon-to-be graduates that there is a place for them out there in the real world; a place where they can share ideas, develop enduring relationships, and possibly find guidance on unleashing and instilling their own passions within their future places of employment.
- Mentorship Program – We want to establish a program in which members who have acquired so much good experience over the years can embark on a journey of professional and personal development with those who are just now entering the job market or have been a few years into their careers. We believe that no one ever stops learning. Those tenured mavens may perhaps be reinvigorated in their personal and work lives, and the enthusiastic young guns can gain some insight into what different industries are really like.
- Events – Finally, the Emerging Professionals will be periodically organizing great events throughout the Metro Atlanta area. These events will be focused on bringing knowledge and experience to those that are not necessarily high-level users of LEED, exploring sustainable buildings and businesses in the area, and discussing the issues that affect all of us here in the city.
