Educational Sessions
On November 3rd & 4th, a sold out crowd at the Georgia World Congress Center was inspired by the knowledge of distinguished national and local leaders in the green building & green schools movements. The event included 24 High Performance, Healthy Schools educational sessions at understanding (introductory) and implementation (advanced) levels covering Energy Efficiency, Water Efficiency, Indoor Air Quality, Recycling/Waste Management, and Environmental Curriculum.



In addition, the Energy Services Coalition will offer a full-day Friday Workshop to examine how Energy Savings Performance Contracting can provide K-12 schools with the Paid-For-By-Savings financing tool they need to make changes TODAY.

e first annual High Performance, Healthy Schools Leadership Awards Luncheon, Lt. Governor Casey Cagle
presented awards to the following winners:
Atlanta Public Schools - Leadership in LEED adoption (K-12)
Emory University - Leadership in LEED adoption (Higher Ed)
Gwinnet Public School System - Leadership in Energy Efficiency
Georgia Tech - Leadership in Water Efficiency
Arabia Mountain High School - Leadership in Environmental Curriculum (Principal, Dr. Lashawn McMillan is pictured left)
Perkins+Will - Leadership in HPHS Design

Premiere Speaker Sessions

The morning kicked off with an opening plenary by Rachel Gutter, Director of the Center for Green Schools. During the second half of the HPHS Awards Luncheon, Ben Fry (Lt. Governor's Healthy Kids Initiative), Gretchen Gigley (Clean Air Campaign - pictured right), Sunny Nastase (UPS), and Laura Turner Seydel (Captain Planet - pictured left) all presented programs in Georgia that are available to schools to help students become the Sustainability Changemakers in their schools and communities. The afternoon completed with George Bandy, Jr., VP of Global Sustainability for InterfaceFLOR presenting an impassioned and moving case for why we must have Every Georgia Child in a Green School within a Generation.
