Learn the history of residential green buildings, available programs,
and the business case for green homes
Hear from three practitioners of green home building and remodeling in the Atlanta area about the history of residential green building, the current status of available programs including the NAHB National Green Building Program, LEED for Homes, EarthCraft House, and the DOE Builders Challenge, and an overview of the business case for green homes.
Presenters will be Matt Hoots, Robert Soens, and Carl Seville.
Matt is the president of the Hoots Group, one of Atlanta’s leading green building and remodeling firms. His projects meet the criteria of EarthCraft House and LEED for Homes programs, and his company offers the Home Performance with Energy Star program, and they also design and install solar thermal systems on homes and businesses. Robert is the president of Pinnacle Custom Builders, a Decatur construction and renovation firm that is also leading the way in residential green construction. He is current completing the first LEED home in the city of Decatur, was named the EarthCraft Renovation Contractor of the Year in 2007, and is the co-chair of the Atlanta USGBC Residential Committee. www.pinnacle-custom-builders.com
Carl is the owner of Seville Consulting, which offers green building consulting and certification services to homeowners and building industry professionals, including LEED, EarthCraft, Energy Star, NAHB, and Builders Challenge certification. He is a HERS rater, a certified NAHB trainer, was a co-author of the USGBC ReGreen Guidelines, serves as the Atlanta Residential Green Building Advocate for USGBC, and as a member of the NAHB Green Building Subcommittee.
