SPSU launches first sustainability student organization

Southern Polytechnic State University has formed the first U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) student organization in Georgia.

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle lends support to Green Schools

At the 2011 CEFGA Career Expo and SkillsUSA Competition on March 18th, Lt. Governor Casey Cagle announced his support of the USGBC-Georgia 'High Performance, Healthy Schools' Program during a press conference held on the Expo floor.  The Lt. Governor also kicked off the announcement of the 'Green YOUR School' Competition for High School, Career Academy and Technical College student teams.  This brand new Georgia-bred SkillsUSA Competition will launch at the 2012 CEFGA Career Expo & SkillsUSA Competition.

CEFGA: 7,000 students, teachers & pros to swing their green hammers

Seven years ago, when the building industry still was expanding, fewer than 1,000 people participated in the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia’s Career Expo for high school and junior high students.

This year, the event is expected to draw 7,000 students, teachers and professionals. And its major focus will be the one segment of the construction sector that appears to be growing: sustainability.
